  1. Desert Flower is a must read. A book that takes you through the culture, life-style of a typical Nomad and the struggles and challenges of the journey of life towards achieving ones dream ( whether planned or by chance).

Waris through her story was able to tell us that nothing is impossible if you put your heart to it and that your beginning does not necessarily define your end.

She also opened her reader eyes to the roles and influences(both positive & negative) of culture and beliefs in the life of an individual. In her case, she was able to live through all the horrible experiences brought on her as a result of where she is from and the believes that has guided her people over the year and came out a Victor at the end.

Inspite of all this, she is still very proud to be a Nomad and is using her experience to preach the gospel against FGM (Female Genital Mutilation.

  2. Life threw lemon at Waris and she made lemonade out of it. Her story will challenge you. In the face of adversity, she held her head high and remained strong and was able to turn the hurdles on her path to success to stepping stones to higher grounds

  3. WOW!!!! What a book!!!!! Waris has made me realise that NO is not an answer to anything you will like to do in life. But with determination and consistency you will do it. Money , education, exposure, and LANGUAGE (i use a capital letter for the language cause i always use that as an excuse) are not barriers at all. Bravo gal!!
